Mounjaro Savings Card 2026: Cost, Eligibility & How It Works in NYC
Updated October 23, 2026 · 6 min read
All prescription medications require a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. 79th Street Pharmacy does not prescribe medication.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is FDA-approved for Type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. The Mounjaro Savings Card is Lilly's copay program for commercially insured patients with that diagnosis. This guide explains the covered-insurance pathway, what the card can reduce, and what we check before you fill at our NYC pharmacy.
A savings card is not insurance and does not make every prescription eligible. Your diagnosis, your plan's coverage and the manufacturer's current terms all matter. If you arrived here looking for tirzepatide for weight management, the distinction between Mounjaro and Zepbound below is the place to start.
What the Mounjaro Savings Card Covers
With commercial insurance that covers Mounjaro, eligible patients with Type 2 diabetes may pay as low as $25 per month. This is a possible copay after insurance and the savings card are processed together, not a guaranteed price for everyone or a cash price without insurance.
Your plan's copay and coverage requirements still apply. Savings are subject to the manufacturer program's monthly and annual maximums, fill limits and current terms. We check the claim and eligible savings before quoting your actual out-of-pocket cost. Call (646) 370-5978 for your current price.
Self-pay pricing depends on medication, strength, and available manufacturer savings programs; eligibility and terms apply. Call us for your current price.
Who Is NOT Eligible
The covered-commercial-insurance savings pathway described here is not available to:
- Patients enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA, other government insurance, including Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage.
- Patients without a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis.
- Patients whose commercial plan does not cover Mounjaro.
Manufacturer savings cards are not valid for patients enrolled in federal healthcare programs (Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare).
A commercial insurance card alone does not establish eligibility. If a plan requires prior authorization, that is the prescriber's office's responsibility to submit; we help identify the requirement and support the office with the information we have. We do not submit authorizations on a prescriber's behalf or guarantee approval. Ask us to check current program terms and alternative pricing if the covered-insurance pathway is unavailable.

Mounjaro and Zepbound both contain tirzepatide and are made by Eli Lilly, but their approved uses are different: Mounjaro is approved for Type 2 diabetes; Zepbound is approved for chronic weight management. The Mounjaro Savings Card should not be treated as a weight-loss coupon.
If weight loss is the goal, Zepbound is the product with that indication and the one whose manufacturer savings programs are built around that use. Your licensed prescriber determines whether it is appropriate; coverage, program eligibility and price still need to be checked. An off-label Mounjaro prescription for weight loss does not establish eligibility for the diabetes savings pathway described here.
Compare the indication-specific options in our GLP-1 coupons and savings guide, or see Zepbound vial & Mounjaro pricing. That page keeps the manufacturer-direct Zepbound vial program separate from Mounjaro pricing at our pharmacy.
How to Actually Use the Savings Card
- Have your licensed prescriber send your Mounjaro prescription to 79th Street Pharmacy, or transfer your existing prescription from another pharmacy. The savings pathway described here requires a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis.
- We run your insurance and help enroll you in the manufacturer program automatically when you are eligible, checking coverage and current terms before applying the card.
- We compare your insurance copay, eligible manufacturer savings and available self-pay pathways. We explain which options apply to your prescription rather than assuming the advertised minimum is your price.
- You receive a text with the exact out-of-pocket cost before dispensing. Call us with questions about the quote; no coverage or price is guaranteed before the claim and eligibility check.
- Arrange pickup or free same-day NYC delivery when stock and scheduling allow, with next-day delivery where needed. Medication travels in validated cold-chain packaging maintained at 36–46°F. Call to confirm availability and your delivery slot.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Mounjaro savings card?
The Mounjaro Savings Card is Lilly's manufacturer copay program for eligible commercially insured patients with Type 2 diabetes. With commercial insurance that covers Mounjaro, eligible patients may pay as low as $25 per month, subject to program maximums and current terms. Call (646) 370-5978 for your current price.
Is Mounjaro covered by Medicare?
Medicare Part D may cover Mounjaro for Type 2 diabetes depending on your plan's formulary and coverage requirements. The Mounjaro Savings Card cannot be used with Medicare, including Medicare Advantage. Insurance coverage and savings-card eligibility are separate questions; we can check your plan and coordinate with your prescriber's office.
Can I use Mounjaro for weight loss?
Mounjaro is FDA-approved for Type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. Zepbound is the tirzepatide product approved for chronic weight management, and its manufacturer savings programs are designed around that indication. Ask your licensed prescriber whether Zepbound is appropriate; see our Zepbound vial & Mounjaro pricing page for the separate pathways.
How much does Mounjaro cost without insurance?
The as-low-as-$25 copay described here is not an uninsured cash price. Without insurance, current self-pay pricing depends on medication, strength, and available manufacturer savings programs; eligibility and terms apply. Call (646) 370-5978 for your current price, or see our Zepbound vial & Mounjaro pricing page. No price or savings-card eligibility is guaranteed.
